Shopify Store Detector
Paste any website URL and find out whether it runs on Shopify. The check reads several independent signals, shows you which ones matched, and costs nothing. If the site is Shopify, you land on its full store profile: theme, apps, traffic and revenue, one page.

Checked 2026-08-09. The four signals: Shopify's CDN script, its storefront JavaScript global, and two of its session cookies. Any one alone can be faked; four together are conclusive.
Shopify ecommerce platform detection methods, explained
Shopify platform detection works by reading traces the platform leaves in every storefront it serves: scripts loaded from cdn.shopify.com, the Shopify JavaScript global, its session cookies, and the checkout's URL pattern. Matching several together gives a conclusive answer.
Shopify serves every storefront from shared infrastructure, and that infrastructure is visible. The page loads assets from cdn.shopify.com, defines a global Shopify object in JavaScript, sets session cookies with names like _shopify_s, routes its checkout through a URL containing /checkouts/, and publishes a robots.txt in Shopify's house format. None of this is hidden; it is simply spread across places most visitors never look.
One signal can mislead: a site might embed a single Shopify buy button without being a Shopify store, or a heavily customized build might strip the obvious markers. That is why the detector checks several signals independently and reports which ones matched. The sample above shows the shape of a confident answer: four independent traces, each meaningless to fake alone.
The check itself is free, with no signup for your first searches, because confirming the platform is the doorway to everything else this site does. A yes takes you straight to the store's profile, where the theme, apps, traffic and revenue estimate live. A no is answered honestly: not every interesting store is a Shopify store.
What the store detector checks
Several signals, weighed together
CDN scripts, the storefront JavaScript global, session cookies and checkout patterns are checked independently. A copied widget can fake one signal; it cannot fake the set.
Headless builds, still caught
A Hydrogen or custom frontend hides the theme layer but still leans on Shopify's backend and assets. The verdict says Shopify, and notes when the storefront is not a standard build.
Free, with no meter running
The platform check costs nothing and needs no signup for your first searches. Credits exist on this site, but this page's question is answered before they start.
A profile behind every yes
A confirmed store opens as a full profile: theme, installed apps, traffic and a revenue estimate. The platform answer is the doorway, not the destination.
How to tell if a website is a Shopify store
Paste the URL, any form of it
A bare domain or a deep product link both work; the input is normalized before checking. This is the fast path, and it is free.
Read the verdict and its evidence
The result names the signals that matched, so you know why the answer is confident. Prefer to verify by hand? The FAQ below teaches the manual checks the pros use.
Keep going while you are there
A yes drops you on the store's profile with its theme, apps, traffic and revenue estimate ready. The platform question is usually the first of five.
When the platform question comes first
Before any deeper research
Theme detection, app detection and revenue estimates on this site are Shopify specific. Thirty free seconds here decides whether the rest of the toolbox applies to the store you are studying.
Inheriting a project nobody documented
Agencies and freelancers taking over an ecommerce build confirm the platform before quoting. When the handover notes are stale, the storefront itself is the only honest documentation.
Sizing up how a rival is built
Whether a competitor runs stock Shopify or custom infrastructure changes what their costs, speed and constraints look like. The verdict, plus the theme block behind it, answers that in one check.
Learning to spot it yourself
The manual methods in the FAQ, source inspection, checkout URLs, robots.txt, are the same signals the detector automates. Run both once and you will trust the shortcut because you understand it.
Platform checker, website detector, is this Shopify
People reach this page asking is this site Shopify, searching for a Shopify website detector, a platform checker, or a CMS detector. Same question, same method: read the platform's traces in the public storefront and answer with evidence.
Shopify Store Detector FAQ
Checking by hand
Open the page source and search for cdn.shopify.com; hits mean Shopify assets are being served. Then load /robots.txt, which on Shopify follows a recognizable house format with entries like /checkout and /cart. Two manual hits are usually conclusive.
Add an item to the cart and start checkout. Shopify checkouts route through a URL containing /checkouts/, often on the store's own domain or a shop subdomain. It is one of the hardest signals to disguise, because Shopify controls that flow end to end.
Yes. Every Shopify store has a permanent address on myshopify.com behind its custom domain. If you ever see one redirect to or from the site, the platform question is closed.
Edge cases and misses
Usually. A custom frontend still pulls Shopify assets, calls its storefront APIs and routes its checkout through Shopify, and those traces are checkable. The one genuinely hard case is a build that deliberately proxies and strips every signal, which is rare because it is expensive to maintain.
Check whether you tested the right surface. Some brands run a marketing site on one platform with the actual shop elsewhere; try the URL of a product page or the domain the checkout lives on. If the verdict still says no, the specific page you checked genuinely is not serving Shopify.
A single signal, yes: any page can embed a Shopify buy button or load an asset from Shopify's CDN. That is exactly why the detector requires several independent signals before saying yes, and shows you which ones it found.
Cost
No. The platform check costs no credits, and your first searches need no signup. Heavy sustained use is asked to sign in, which also brings 5 free daily credits for the paid tools elsewhere on the site.
Yes, one at a time, as many as you need for normal research. There is no bulk API on the free tool.
After the verdict
The store's profile: which theme it runs and whether that theme is bought or custom, the apps it has installed with the evidence for each, its measured traffic, and a modelled revenue estimate with a free preview. All from the same check you just ran.
Not here, and we would rather say so than pretend. This site's detection, theme, app and revenue tooling is built specifically for Shopify storefronts. A general technology profiler can tell you what the site runs instead.
The check reads pages that are public to any visitor, nothing more. There is no notification to the merchant and nothing for them to approve.
